The news of the Oakland Warehouse fires that took the lives of 36 people broke this week, after having occurred last weekend. Whether the fires were caused on purpose by arson or by accident are still unknown. American astronaut John Glenn, the first to orbit earth, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8 surrounded by his wife and children in a California Hospital. The article held a quote from Ohio Governor John Kasich, who stated “Though he soared deep into space and to the heights of Capitol Hill, his heart never strayed from his steadfast Ohio roots. Godspeed, John Glenn!” According to the same article, “Glenn is expected to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.”

Ohio senate passes Heartbeat Abortion Bill, which bans abortions after the first heartbeat is detected
The Ohio senate has sent two bills restricting abortion to the office of Governor John Kasich, both of which severely limit access to abortion. The most controversial one, the Heartbeat Abortion bill, does not allow for exceptions on abortion and restricts them after the first heartbeat is detected. According to Iris E. Harvey, the President and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio stated, “These bans are a deliberate attempt to make abortion illegal in the state of Ohio,” she said. “If signed into law, these bills would force women to travel long distances and cross state lines to access abortion. For many women, the expense and time these restrictions would force upon them would make access impossible.”

In her first interview since the end of the election cycle, Hillary Clinton focused on a speech that decried the spread of fake news.
